Lessons Learned From a Life of Exploration

Ubuntu speaks of the very essence of being human… you are generous, you are hospitable, you are friendly and caring and compassionate. You share what you have. It is to say, ‘My humanity is inextricably bound up in yours.’ We belong in a bundle of life.

For more than twelve years, I lived abroad as an international teacher, visiting over 40 countries along the way. I feel incredibly fortunate! Southern Africa has a special place in my heart, drawing me back time and again to reconnect with friends and experience its remarkable wildlife, often in their natural habitats. I’ve frequently invited colleagues to join me on these trips, showing them how to explore South Africa’s national parks and other treasures affordably. Early in my international teaching career, I spent two years in Mozambique, which gave me valuable insight into truly living like a local.

It's time to share more about my travels and how to be a "featherlight trekker".
